Rhosygilwen: A Sustainable Business
The ethos behind Rhosygilwen and Western Solar is to build a truly sustainable business that can benefit the local community in a wide variety of ways. Since purchasing the Mansion and grounds in 1999, the owners of Rhosygilwen, Glen Peters and Brenda Squires, have developed it into an exciting arts venue, bringing employment and enjoyment to the local community. At all times ecological interests and ethical concerns have been high on the agenda. The planning and development of Neuadd y Dderwen arose out of a deep desire to continue the community concerts that had been traditionally held in the Mansion itself. Much more of the history of the house and gardens can be found on the website of the Pembrokeshire Retreat.
With the development of Western Solar, and now Ty Solar, the enterprises have expanded to include green energy and low cost housing.
Menter Rhosygilwen: Supporting the Arts
Western Solar is committed to sponsoring the arts through Menter Rhosygilwen — a charity that was set up to run the unique arts venue at Neuadd y Dderwen, Rhosygilwen.
Western Solar provides free energy to Rhosygilwen’s conference and banqueting business and also acts as a key sponsor for the music, opera and arts programme delivered by Menter Rhosygilwen at Neuadd y Dderwen, a major arts venue in West Wales.
Menter Rhosygilwen promotes music, the arts and culture with the aim of enjoyment and economic regeneration in this rural corner of West Wales. We are passionate about live music by Welsh and international artists in the areas of classical, choral, folk, jazz and traditional music of Wales.
